Dawn Mountain came into being on June 27, 1996 under the directorship of Anne Klein and Harvey Aronson.
Our long term purposes are three-fold:

As a Tibetan temple,
to make available traditional Buddhist teachings, primarily in the Tibetan tradition, in a manner accessible to contemporary Americans.

As a community center,
to provide community service to those in need, including but not limited to teaching a variety of techniques that promote physical and mental well-being independent of any religious orientation.

As a research institute,
to support research and translation of materials on Tibetan philsophy, ritual, and culture.
