Welcome to Dawn Mountain!

Dawn Mountain is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist Temple in the Galleria area of Houston Texas. Our mission is to be a living bridge between traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings and curious people everywhere.

You are welcome here if you are new to Buddhism, a long-time practitioner, curious, or just looking for community. We have programs for everyone.

What is a Mala?

At one point or another, you may have received a mala from us. The strand of beads, known as a mala, is a sacred spiritual item used to keep count of chanting repetitions while meditating. The tactile nature of the bead can be used to keep one grounded, or remind one of one’s intention.

    Teaching Tuesdays
Held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Each series lasts for several weeks and all sessions are recorded and available for review. Topics range from lessons on compassion and self reflection to newly translated stories of important Buddhist figures.

Feeling connected to others is so important. These classes encourage a lot of conversation and sharing in a shame-free and pressure-free environment.

Most of our programs are available in-person and online.

    In-Person
In the Mission Center of St. Philip Presbyterian Church. We are only open to the public during event hours.

    Online
Almost all events held at Dawn Mountain are available live online via Zoom and YouTube.
